Salford is playing their first game at Peninsula Stadium in 2021, after four consecutive away games. The last time they played at home was on December 26, when they deservedly beat Walsall with 2:0 on Boxing Day. This is the first chance for a double win against any team in League Two this season because James Wilson secured a 0:1 win over Harrogate Town just over a month ago. With four home games in the next five and new transfers to the team, manager Richie Wellens feels Salford can now extend the fight for one of League Two’s top spots. New signings Robbie Gotts and Tom James could debut today, while Ash Eastham and Bruno Andrade are uncertain. It’s hard to say that Harrogate has changed much, other than the arrival of six new faces to bolster Simon Weaver’s team, to ensure survival in League Two. Among the newcomers are highly rated young winger Josh McPake on loan from Rangers and winger Simon Power from Norwich City. For today's visit, they have a lot of problems with absences because Warren Burrell (22/0 suspended), Lloyd Kerry (16/2 suspended), Will Smith (11/1), Mark Beck (9/0), Dan Jones (7/0), Joe Cracknell (3/0) and Mitchell Roberts (1/0) are out of the squad. They are still looking for a first league win against Salford in the eighth attempt, but I think Salford is a better team at the moment and I expect them to continue a great mutual tradition.
